Heroes / Grove Warden
A steady early hero that stops the front enemy's first attack and later shields teammates who have no armor.

Abilities
Strike
Main attack, melee. Deals its power as physical damage to the front enemy.
Also on: Berserker, Cutpurse, Guildmaster, Martyr, Paladin, Peddler, Sellsword, Shieldbearer, Skullsplitter, Squire, Thornweaver, Warchief, Wildheart
Brace
End of each round. Regains 1 armor per level (1, 2, 3), up to its starting armor or its Brace amount, whichever is higher. A hero with no armor still braces.
Also on: Crusader, Sellsword, Shieldbearer, Squire
Barkskin
End of each round. Every friend with 0 armor gains 1 armor.
How to use Grove Warden
Best position: front or middle.
Hold makes the front enemy skip its first attack, which matters a lot when that enemy hits hard.
Barkskin at level 3 gives 1 armor each round to every ally with none. That blocks a whole hit for each of them, every round.
Its own damage stays low throughout. Treat it as protection rather than a damage dealer.
Good teammates
-
Archmage
Fragile casters with no armor gain the most from Barkskin.
-
Apprentice
One armor can absorb a hit that would otherwise kill a low-health caster.
Tier by stage of the run
Early B · Middle A · Late A. Middle of the pack at every stage, and a fine filler.
