Abilities
Bolt
Main attack, ranged. Deals its power as magical damage to the enemy at the back.
Also on: Alchemist, Archmage, Assassin, Bounty Hunter, Pyromancer
Caltrops
Reaction. Whenever an enemy hits this unit with a melee attack, that enemy loses 1 speed.
Also on: Bard, Cutpurse, Illusionist, Minstrel, Peddler, Warchief
Hunter's Mark
Start of battle and end of each round. If no enemy is marked, marks the enemy with the highest power.
How to use Ranger
Best position: back.
Bolt targets the enemy at the back, so Ranger is a good way to remove fragile casters behind a tough front.
Hunter's Mark marks the highest-power enemy at the start of battle and again whenever none is marked. The next attack that damages a marked enemy deals double.
Marks work best with big single hits, so line up a strong attacker to act after the mark lands.
Good teammates
-
Skullsplitter
Its high power makes the most of double damage.
-
Sellsword
A heavy attacker gets a big return from each mark.
Tier by stage of the run
Early C · Middle C · Late C. Fragile and low impact, especially later in a run.
